People play roulette to win money. Well, most do anyway. So when the ball lands on a number piled high with chips it’s YOUR job to add up the bet, in your head, and pay the CORRECT amount to the winner. Oh yeah baby!
This is the meat and potatoes of a roulette dealers job. If you don’t add up those crazy bets correctly, you’re off to the unemployment line.

The casino will short you out by two units because the casino will not make a profit if it pays odds fairly. Thirty-six will be divided into two and times 100 to reveal a house edge of 5.26%. Hence, roulette odds do not reflect actual roulette payouts. If you check a roulette probability chart, you will see the probability for each set of numbers.
Roulette payouts are an important part of roulette strategy. They work like this. The odds are stated in the form of x to 1, which means you’ll win x dollars for every dollar you’ve bet. For example, the single number bet offers a payout of 35 to 1. If you win, you’ll get your dollar back plus the $35 for the win. Payouts and Odds Overall, roulette payouts are fairly simple to understand. Namely, the term relates to the money you stand to receive on your winning wager. It’s almost always a multiple of the bet, and the payouts are expressed with a simple formula: X to 1.
But you’ve got to start off somewhere right? Don’t jump in and try to add up massive bets straight away. You’ll just get confused and slow down the learning process.

Start with the first button, ‘Splits and Straight Ups’. You will only see chips in the split and straight up positions. When you are comfortable with adding up bets in only these two positions, go to the next button, ‘Splits, Straight Ups and Corners’. Corners will be added to the bets now as well.
